Beta was a Category 2 tropical cyclone that formed in the Gulf of Mexico in 2005. The storm reached maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h (100 kt) with a minimum central pressure of 962 hPa tracking across the Gulf of Mexico in the North Atlantic basin (Northern Hemisphere).
