Rita was a Category 3 tropical cyclone that formed in the North Atlantic open waters in 2005. The storm reached maximum sustained winds of 287 km/h (155 kt) with a minimum central pressure of 895 hPa tracking across the North Atlantic open waters in the North Atlantic basin (Northern Hemisphere).
